Healthy Eating...

This week I chose to start back the year talking about healthy eating with the kids. I had purchased at the first of the year back in July the food guide pyramid from our local school supply store along with food photo cards to use this year. So, after having Oliver and wanting to be more healthier myself I figure why not bring the kids into the mix too, and what better way then explaining foods to them and showing them what we should be eating and what we should avoid eating.

Oliver pretty much napped the whole time we did school, except for his spurts of alertness to look around and see what the noise was and where he was I believe...the room is really bright so I think he liked looking around it...

Isaiah played with his cars and trains since he found that the crane had a magnet piece on it and would hold them up...kept him occupied...

Gaby did all her workbooks and for not doing school for the past 6 weeks has done really well...

Andrew did his workbooks then looked through some books while he waited for Gaby to finish her assignments...

Our group time today consisted of talking about the food pyramid, and what foods were healthy and not healthy, each child could give good examples and knew the foods on the food pyramid. Gaby completed a worksheet about the food pyramid which had the wrong items in places and she had to circle the item that shouldnt be there. She also read 2 books about long O and short O...and did a worksheet on them.

So far the kids have a good start off to knowing healthy eating habits, I plan to continue with this for the week then we have a field trip planned for Friday...
I hope everyone had a great start back to school after the Christmas break...blessings!

....also if you want information about the food pyramid that is now a plate you can find it HERE...they have tons of information along with some printable items too(:
