Mama Always Said: Wisdom From My Mom To Me On Beauty

I was talking to my Mama the other night on the phone and somehow we got to talking about her daily routines and things she avoids, I started thinking about the things I have learned from her over my short life and wanted to share them with you.

Always avoid the sun; who cares if you skin is white as snow, you won’t have to worry about causing damage to yourself in the long run if you just avoid it. If you must be out in the sun wear proper clothing, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.

Always moisturize your skin and don’t forget your face; my mom put lotion on herself straight from the shower, it’s the best time to do so because your skin is more apt to absorbing the lotion; and after you wash your face always apply a moisturizer that suits your skin type.

Always wash your face like you brush your teeth, twice a day; it helps wake your skin up in the morning, and calm you down before bed.

Don’t skimp on your beauty products; this doesn’t mean spend a fortune, but think about your skin before you buy products. Sometimes saving and spending the money on a higher end brand for example on foundation is better than wasting money on a drugstore item that will not work for you..Quality BEFORE Quantity!

Don’t forget the thrift shops; if you have a really nice top that you paid full price for, mix it with something you got at a thrift store, there are so many options out there for nice clothing you just have to find your style, and what works best for your body. All the items in your outfit don’t have to cost thirty bucks or more each.

Take care of your feet; nobody wants to be in flip flop season with winter feet, and help those who have to see it. You can purchase the items needed to take care of your feet at home cost fewer than fifteen bucks at Wal-Mart so just spend that and take care of that dry skin.

Always pamper yourself; take care of yourself, whether it be a bubble bath, a good book and tea, or a movie night with friends in pajamas, just be sure to relax and unwind from the day or week. You cannot help others when you don’t help yourself.

Always Be YOU; just because the world is doing this or that doesn’t mean you have to join in. Always dress, do your makeup and hair as you feel comfortable; how you take care of yourself says a lot about you and your personality.

What are some things you remember your mom saying to you when it came to beauty and fashion?

Stay Beautiful, Kristen

  1. Your mum makes a lot of sense. My mum told me a lot of things, like 'Keep one hand on your bag and another on your ha'penny', which means keep a close watch on your belongings while you're out and your errr....vagina. Hahaha.
